The Vatican has raised the idea of ordaining older married men as priests in the Amazon's remote areas where there is a shortage of clergy, in what could be a historic shift.  Pope Francis wrote that the region was confronting such challenges that it "requires structural and personal changes by all human beings, by nations and by the Church".

But should it go further and allow all priests the right to marry if they wish to, Ivan was joined by Fr. Tony Flannery of the Redemptorist Order and Canon Patrick Comerford of the Church of Ireland, who is married with two adult children.
