A taskforce was set up in an effort to boost the recovery of the Irish tourism industry post-coronavirus; and as part of its plan, among other things, it has called for staggered school holidays.

The reason?   They want to encourage families to take breaks in hotels.

The proposal is included in the Tourism Recovery Plan 2020-2023 which was published on Tuesday.

Ruth Andrews is chair of the Tourism Recovery Taskforce, and Chair of the Incoming Tour Operators Association, and Arthur Godsil is the former Principal in St Andrew’s College.

They joined Kieran on Wednesday's edition of The Hard Shoulder to discuss whether this would be a good idea.
