In 2016 Dublin Bay North was described as one of the “constituencies of death”. But will it be as unpredictable this time around?

Currently in Dublin Bay North the five sitting TD’s are Richard Bruton (Fine Gael), Sean Haughey (Fianna Fail), Denise Mitchell (Sinn Fein), Independent Tommy Broughan and Independent Alliance member Finian McGrath.

But at the last minute both Tommy Broughan and Finian McGrath announced they would not be running and that really changes the dynamic and opens the race up here; between each other in 2016 they received over 11,000 first preference votes.

Geography also plays a huge part here; Dublin Bay North stretches from Howth in as far as Dublin Airport, down to Clontarf and Marino and over to Coolock, Artane and Darndale.
