Tonight on the Hard Shoulder Ivan looked at a number of issues raised by reports that American anti-abortion activists are making plans to try and talk women in Ireland out of having an abortion.
It’s at a time when the issue of exclusion zones around hospitals have been called for by activists, and legislation is rumoured to be forthcoming in the next few months.
For a perspective on what is currently legal and what is not, Ivan was joined by Stuart Gilhooly, Partner at H J Ward Solicitors and past president of the Law Society.
He was shortly thereafter joined by David Quinn, Director of the Iona Institute and columnist with the Sunday Times who outlined why the right to assembly needs to be balanced, but extreme tactics are not welcome.
