Well it seems that, despite the sad passing of Independent candidate Marese Skehan, in the Tipperary constituency ahead of Saturday’s polling day, the vote will still go ahead.

Days on confusion about the fate of the vote and whether it would need to be delayed now seem to be set aside. But could legal challenges still be mounted? We may be in uncharted territory here! 

Ivan was joined by James Seymour, Returning Officer for County Tipperary and Dr. Jennifer Kavanagh, a Law Lecturer in Waterford Institute of Technology, who specialises in Constitutional Law and Electoral Law and author of Electoral Law in Ireland to explain the reasons for the about turn.
