Senior members of Donald Trump’s administration have met with Republican senators at the White House to discuss how to handle the looming prospect of a Senate impeachment trial. Dr Fiona Hill told the inquiry yesterday that Mr Trump’s allies, including personal attorney Rudy Giuliani, had pushed a “fictional narrative” in Kiev in demanding an investigation into Joe Biden, adding that EU ambassador Gordon Sondland had been dispatched on a “domestic political errand” for the president’s benefit.
