President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen has sought further details and clarifications from Ireland's EU Commissioner Phil Hogan on the Clifden golf dinner controversy.
This is despite having received a report from Hogan last night, according to a spokesperson for the Commission.
European Commission Deputy Chief Spokesperson Dana Spinant said today that the details are very important.
Meanwhile in Ireland, Dara Calleary has resigned as the Deputy leader of Fianna Fail, with Taoiseach Micheál Martin saying that "he can’t say that he doesn’t have confidence in Hogan as Commissioner", but recognises that people are "rightly furious".
Fionnan Sheahan, Ireland Editor for the Irish Independent, joined Mark on Monday's edition of the Hard Shoulder to give his analysis.
