A new greyhound care centre, which aims to help racing dogs transition from retiring from the track to pets, has opened in Co Tipperary.
The new centre currently caters for eighteen greyhounds.
And Rásaíocht Con Éireann, who run greyhound racing in Ireland hope to open more of these care centres around the country.
But animal rights activists say these centres do not go far enough, as too many greyhounds are still put to sleep once they finish racing.
