The Limerick Regeneration Programme started fourteen years ago with the aim of improving some of the most disadvantaged areas in the city.
Moyross was one of the key targets, an area synonymous with crime and anti-social behaviour.
There have been improvements in Moyross over that time, but for many the regeneration has been too slow.
500 homes have been knocked as part of the plans, yet only 46 have been built in their place.
The new road which was promised to connect Moyross to the rest of Limerick is incomplete – but work has commenced on it recently.
In this two-part series, our reporter Síofra Mulqueen explores the issues of homelessness and unemployment in the area, and we hear about what it’s like to live in Moyross, in 2021.
