This afternoon Joe Biden will become the 46th president of the Untied States. A Biden presidency on the surface seems a good one for Ireland, with the new president often proudly speaking of his County Mayo roots. Reporter Hannah McCarthy reports for us now from Washington DC and she has been getting the views of some of the Irish in Washington about the Biden presidency – including Irish ambassador to the United States, Dan Mulhall. But first she spoke to Mark Kirwan, a County Tipperary man who has been a police officer in Washington DC for the past 20 years
