Two In Three Irish People In Favour Of A United Ireland

According to a Kantar poll published in the Irish Independent this morning a significant majority of voters in the Republic of Ireland are in favour of a United Ireland but are not willing to pay extra to fund it. Two in three people in the more than two thousand people polled want to a United Ireland realised. Susan was joined by Ireland editor with the Irish Independent Fionnan Sheahan to discuss the issue.

With this weekend coinciding with the 100th anniversary of the Partition of Ireland. Over three quarters of 25-34 years olds are in favour of a united Ireland, while over 60s shower a lower interest in seeing a united Ireland. Sheahan stated that the feedback from the poll was that 3 out of 5 said firmly ''No'' in response to the question would they be prepared to foot the bill of a united Ireland and the associated costs and taxes.
