Dog friendly spaces are becoming more popular - but not everyone is in favour of allowing man's best friend into their local shopping centre.

While other European countries have a more laissez-faire attitude, it was only in 2017 when dogs were allowed inside cafes and restaurants in Ireland.

Presenter with Radio Nova Emily Brew told The Anton Savage Show that, as the owner of a new puppy, this issue is "something I am very in favour of".

"We are still absolutely decades behind our European and UK counterparts where their societies were kind of built around allowing dogs in," she said.

"That was just the nature of the way that things were formed - in Ireland, not so much.

"While there's a few in my area, we're still miles away from lots of places being dog friendly."
