On Thursday Serving Defence Forces Member Cathal Crotty, 22 was given a three-year suspended sentence and a fine of €3000 after pleading guilty to assaulting 24-year-old Natasha O'Brien. Mr Crotty hit Nathasha six times, after she requested him to stop shouting homophobic abuse at another individual. The Outcome of the case by Judge Tom O'Donnell has drawn widespread criticism from women’s rights groups and the public.
