“He lied through his teeth…I think he should go”
That was the call from Charlie Flanagan - Chair of the Oireachtas Foreign Affairs Committee and Former Minister for Justice & Equality – about the future of Russia’s Ambassador to Ireland. on Newstalk’s Anton Savage Show this morning.
Speaking on Newstalk’s Anton Savage Show this morning he continued by saying that “expelling the Russian Ambassador is a display of the revulsion of the Irish people towards Russia”
He went on to question the disproportion number of officials in the Russian Embassy to Ireland saying that we should “reduce their numbers”.
When asked about Irish neutrality Charlie Flanagan he asked “are we a player in the European Union in the matter of security and defence?....We need to question the status of Irish neutrality”
He continued by saying that we need to be ready “to defend our shores and engage with our European colleagues” calling on the government to “improve the money spent on our defences”
Also joining Anton Savage was Fabrice Pothier - Former Director of Policy Planning at NATO – who said “NATO needs to go beyond its own borders” stating that “Ukraine is our problem and we need to be fart of the solution”
