Jack Grealish put the icing on a memorable week with a crucial goal for Aston Villa in the Carabao Cup.
Days after making his England debut, the midfielder put pen-to-paper on a new five-year contract at Villa Park.
Grealish started their second round tie away to Burton Albion, and scored an 88th minute volley that put the Premier League side ahead for the first time in the game.
Villa had fallen inside two-minutes through a Colin Daniel strike.
A debut goal from Ollie Watkins levelled matters six-minutes before half-time, with Grealish's late shot putting Villa ahead.
Keinan Davis made the win secure in injury-time, and last season's beaten finalists will be away to either Bristol City or Northampton Town in round 3.
Ryan Fraser scored on his Newcastle debut to give them a 1-0 win at home to Blackburn.
There was a decidedly Irish flavour to West Ham's 3-0 win at home to Charlton. Darren Randolph and Josh Cullen both started, while Conor Coventry was sprung from the bench.
Sebastien Haller scored twice for David Moyes' side, with Felipe Anderson adding a third with ten minutes to go.
Crystal Palace came a cropper in a marathon penalty shoot-out away to Bournemouth. Both goalkeepers took - and missed - penalties before the hosts eventually prevailed 11-10. Ironically it had finished goalless after 90-minutes.
Elsewhere, League One side Lincoln City set up a home tie with Premier League champions Liverpool in round 3. Michael Appleton's side were 5-0 winners away to Bradford City.
While Manchester United will visit Kenilworth Road after Jordan Clark's early goal gave Luton Town a 1-0 win at Reading.
