Kildare player Emmet Bolton has tweeted his support for his former manager Kieran McGeeney following his removal as manager. 

The now former boss  lost a vote 29-28 at last nights county board meeting meaning he will not get a seventh year in charge of the county.

A letter of support from the players was read out at the meeting while support from the supporters club was also voiced.

Bolton tweeted that club delegates who've never scene them train went into a room tonight and decided what was best for them.

Bolton added ,  they totally disregarded their opinions over the last couple of weeks and says it's a disgraceful way to treat a man who put so much heart and effort into Kildare football.

Johnny Doyle who played much of his time under Geezer at midfielder has been quoted simply as saying "A black day for Kildare GAA, I've never felt as empty"

The Lillywhites made 5 All Ireland quarter finals under the former All Ireland winner with Armagh and were unlucky to lose to Down in an All Ireland semi final, they also returned to division one  football and captured an under 21 Leinster title this season.

The county appears to have much talent coming through as they also won the Leinster minor title.

Many in Kildare were uncomfortable with how much was being spent on training the side but just ask Donegal, Dublin, Cork and Kerry, if you want to be the best it costs
