Andrew Luck has become the highest-paid player in the NFL after signing a six-year extension with the Indianapolis Colts. The deal was announced on Wednesday evening by the two-time SuperBowl champions.
Luck was the first overall pick in the 2012 NFL Draft. He led the team to the playoffs in his first three seasons with the team. Last year, he started less than half of the Colts' games as he suffered with a lacerated kidney in the middle of the season.

The 26-year-old's deal guarantees him $87million throughout the during of the deal. $47million of that was handed over to the Washington DC native when he signed.
"To have this deal done, it’s great. It’s sort of fun to start a second chapter, a second phase, with the Colts", Luck revealed after signing the deal.
Luck will have to carry the burden of his new deal with him throughout the opening weeks of the new campaign. The Colts regular season begins on September 11th at home to the Detroit Lions.
