AC Milan are in a very delicate position having sacked Massimiliano Allegri.
Mired in the bottom half of the Serie A table after a 4 - 3 defeat to lowly Sassuolo, they may choose between the inexperienced Clarence Seedorf and Filippo Inzaghi as their next manager.
Tonight, James Horncastle told us that appointing either man could be disastrous for Milan.
"[Milan vice-President] Adriano Galliani has been grooming Pippo Inzaghi, who is in charge of the Milan Primavera team, as a possible successor to Allegri. But from the Berlusconi side, they want Clarence Seedorf. It looks like Seedorf is the more likely.
"I think it is disastrous for Milan because both these individuals have no coaching experience at the highest level. To throw them in at this deep end, you risk burning them completely."
Horncastle also painted a picture of a boardroom power struggle with Silvio Berlusconi's daughter Barbara"swinging her weight around" and "pushing for a new direction", with long-term vice-President Adriano Galliani pitched in the other camp.
Since Galliani's resignation was overturned, both have been given equal status, but Horncastle believes the twin tandem of Berlusconi and Galliani cannot work in the long-term.
"While this thing persists, it is a difficult situation. You can't please two people. You have to decide on one direction to go in, rather than a compromise. Something has to give and it's more likely that Galliani makes way."
