Armagh manager Paul Grimley felt too much space was afforded to Cavan after they were knocked out of the Ulster Championship yesterday afternoon.
Speaking to Newstalk Sport's Dave McIntyre after the 1-15 to 1-11 defeat to the Breffni County, the Orchard County boss felt space was the key issue.
"Well it's something we allowed to happen because I refused to play with a sweeper," explained Grimley. "I wanted to put more pressure on their half of the pitch and play the game in their half of the pitch which we didn't do in the first half. We let them break out and they hurt us badly. And in fact they missed quite a few scores as well. Space is a killer in football, there's no doubt about that."
Depsite the defensive problems, Grimely said that he had no intention of dropping Armagh's attack-minded system.
"We've been working on this attack-minded thing from the start of the year and I wasn't about to abandon that at half-time. There wouldn't be much to me as a manager if I did that and I told the players the same. People have to stop looking for excuses and stand up."
