ESPN.Com has reported Arsene Wenger has promised Arsenal fans that the purse strings at The Emirates will be loosened in the near future and the club will be free to make more big money signings to strengthen the team.

The North London club have been hampered in recent years by repayments on their new stadium but Wenger has said that that will no longer be an impedement to the club's transfer ambitions.

"We have gone through a period where we had restricted potential, financially…[That happens] when you move into the new stadium, but we have come over that period and now hopefully can be a bit more convincing [with transfers and contracts]."

Wenger was keen to stress that he wants any new look Arsenal future to revolve around a core of talented young English players, "I hope we will be capable of building a team around all these young English players, who will hopefully be capable of achieving something."

The Frenchman went on to say: "I believe as well when a club gives a chance to young players, somewhere the players must say 'Let's do it together'. Because if you educate players, at some stage fate is in their hands - and they must want to win together."
