Atletico Madrid have finally confirmed the signing of Luis Suarez from Barcelona.
The Uruguayan striker has signed a two-year deal at the Wanda Metropolitano, after Barca allowed him to leave in a €6million deal.
Atletico say Suarez passed his medical and officially put pen-to-paper on the deal on Friday.
The 33-year old is the third top scorer in Barcelona's history with 198 goals in 283 games. Only Lionel Messi (634) and Cesar (232) have found the net more in their time at the Camp Nou.
Messi penned an emotional farewell to his teammate of six years in an Instagram post.
The Argentine - who came perilously close to also leaving in this window - slammed Barca for allowing Suarez to leave, saying, "You did not deserve for them to throw you out like they did. But the truth is that at this stage nothing surprises me any more."
Their former teammate Neymar even joined the pile-on in the comments underneath, replying, "Amazing how they do things" coupled with a facepalm emoji.
"How difficult it is going to be not to continue sharing the day to day with you, both on and off the pitch," Messi added.
"We will miss them so much. It was many years, many mates, lunches, dinners ... Many things that will never be forgotten, every day together.
"It will be strange to see you with another shirt and much more to face you.
"You deserved a farewell befitting who you are: one of the most important players in the club's history, achieving important things both as a group and individually."
Messi concluded with the words, " I wish you all the best in this new challenge.
"I love you very much, I love you very much. See you soon friend."
