Atletico Madrid coach Diego Simeone has been given an eight match touchline ban.

The Argentine was sent off in Friday's Spanish Super Cup victory over rivals Real Madrid.

Simeone was dismissed for patting the assistant referee on the back of the head after being wound up by a number of decisions against his team.

His assistant German Burgos will lead the team from the touchline during the Argentine's absence.

Atletico beat city rivals Real 1 - 0 in the second leg to claim the Super Cup trophy.
