Deservedly voted man of the match at the weekend during the 46-7 win over Italy, the Leinster centre is now officially the most capped international player of all time having played 132 times for his country and 8 times for the Lions. He scored 47 tries in the process.
Even with a Six Nations record, 208 tackles, Italy could not shackle Ireland who had O’Driscoll to thank for much of the hard work done in winning 154 rucks and mauls.
It’s only when you talk to those who did battle both with and against the 35 year old Dubliner you realise exactly how important he is on and off the pitch.
Former London Irish, Leinster, Toulose and Ireland forward Aidan McCullen has played with O’Driscoll and observed him on many occasions through his punditry with Newstalk and Setanta Sports.
He spoke to us about what makes the former captain so great and why Ireland can go to Paris this weekend and win.
