It could be a big year for WBO European lightweight champion Stephen Ormond.

Just before Christmas he surprised many with a points victory against Derry Matthews in Liverpool and after just 17 pro fights the 30 year old is within reach of a big World title fight with Frank Warren looking at promoting him.

A pro career almost didn't happen after problems with his eyes forced him into an early retirement , he came back in 2008 after a 2 year absence motivated by the birth of his son.

Since that he's only lost one bout and of the 16 he has won 7 have been by way of knockout

I dropped up to Ormond at the Celtic Warrior gym in Corduff in Dublin and spoke to him about an interesting career so far.
