“I celebrate adversity. Congratulations. Your favourite fighter is safe. For 10 months. #AintNothing I'll do it on my back. EASY!!!!”
That’s what Conor Mc Gregor tweeted this morning after the news was confirmed that he will be out for at least 10 months after a scan revealed a tear to his anterior cruciate ligament, a strain to his medial collateral ligament and a meniscal tear of his posterior horn, according to UFC President Dana White.
The damage occurred during last weeks win over Max Holloway in Boston which was broadcast on Fox Sports in America.
According to the website mmajunkie.com Saturday was the first time he had been to the third round in his career.
Before that all 13 of his wins had come by stoppage with 12 knockouts or TKOs and one submission
The Dubliner who's building up a massive following in Ireland and around the world had tweeted earlier in the week that he expected to be back 6 weeks meaning he may have made a big card in Manchester in October.
So what happened? How did happen? How impressive was it that he still won his fight despite this kind of injury? and what does this mean to the Notorious Mc Gregors immediate future ? I spoke to the Presenter of Setanta Sports Mixed Martial Arts Podcat and MMA Journalist Mark O'Toole who thinks Mc Gregor can and will bounce back.
