An Australian cricket announcer has been sacked for racially mocking England bowler Monty Panesar. Announcer Joe Nixon introduced Panesar (pictured), who was born in Luton but is of Indian descent, in a mock Indian accent during England’s drawn Tour match against CA Chairman’s XI in Adelaide.

Nixon was fired soon after and a spokesperson for Cricket Australia said, "Cricket Australia deemed the conduct of the PA announcer as inappropriate.”

Nixon had been cautioned for his comments on Friday by Cricket Australia, including saying "You can go and have another drink now, Joe" when England’s Joe Root was dismissed.
