David Beckham took his final bow last night, with a tearful exit from the Parc de Princes pitch greeted by a standing ovation from players, coaches and fans.
Beckham leaves behind a 19 year playing career, with over 750 appearances between club and international football, and 130 goals.
The former England international provided an assist for Blaise Matuidi to score in a 3-1 win over Brest, on a night of celebration in the French capital as PSG were awarded their first Ligue Une trophy since 1994
After the game Beckham told reporters the emotion of the occasion had begun to affect him as the game went on. “The emotion started kicking in and it was hard to run, let alone even kick a ball. It was an emotional night, to see the reaction of the players, to see the reaction of the fans when I was coming off, it was special.”
