Ben White has been called up to England's Euro 2020 squad.

The Brighton defender was drafted in by manager Gareth Southgate to replace Trent Alexander Arnold, who picked up a thigh injury last week.

White - who is also viewed as a versatile option - joins the 26-man squad with minimal international experience.

He only just made his full international debut in England's friendly win over Austria last week.

He then started against Romania on Sunday, which ended in a 1-0 win at the Riverside Stadium.

Southgate remained coy on who he would add to the squad in the wake of Alexander Arnold's injury.

It had been mooted that Jessie Lingard, Ben Godfrey and James Ward Prowse among those on the standby list.

However, Southgate told media on Sunday after their win over Romania that his decision was not based on the players performance on Sunday night.

Rather, it was with an eye on the longer term and cover for during the tournament in specific areas of the field.

"The decision won't necessarily be about the performance today as such, it's going to be positional really and the area we feel we might need the most cover," he said.

"I couldn't have been happier with the way Jesse approached things, Ollie Watkins approached things and the two young defenders approached things.

"We've got to get the right balance," he added.

"We've to find the players that are in form, find the players that we think are our best players for different games.

"But we're going to need them all; the players that start game one, there'll be changes during the game, we need gamechangers from the bench and we're fortunate we've got players that can do that as well."

England begin their Euro 2020 campaign at Wembley next Sunday against Croatia.
