The top clubs in England and France appear determined to leave the Heineken Cup after this season.
The English Premiership have announced plans to press ahead with a new European tournament from next season after a series of unsuccessful negotiations with Heineken Cup organisers, the ERC.
The English clubs are now set to begin planning for a new-look competition for next season that would include, French and English clubs as well as the potential for other countries to be represented.
