Ireland's team performance against Scotland was excellent. Jordan Larmour and Andrew Conway both stood out in their starting berths in place of Rob Kearney and Keith Earls respectively.

The latter two missed the Rugby World Cup opener but will be in contention to feature later in the pool. However, do Larmour and Conway have a case to usurp them - albeit with the caveat that it's based off one good game?

Ireland and Leinster legend Brian O'Driscoll tackled that question on Off The Ball's Monday Night Rugby.

"I think the two boys still have enough credit in the bank - Kearney and Earls - I do," he said.

"But that gap has narrowed massively and narrowed massively off the back of the weekend's performance as well.

Attributes Schmidt Loves

"It's one thing doing it against Italy in Soldier Field where Larmour scored a hat-trick. But doing it in a World Cup match against your toughest opponents in your pool and standing up to every test asked of you and doing your basics brilliantly well and working hard, they're all the attributes that Joe Schmidt absolutely loves in his players. And I thought Conway's really performed brilliantly in the last five or six weeks."

BOD also emphasised Earls' brilliance over the last two to three years.

"But he's now starting to get under pressure," he continued.

"Because of the top quality performances of Conway."
