While Jonah Lomu's exploits on a rugby field are well known, not as many people are aware of the fact that he was a huge car enthusiast.
In particular, Lomu was a big figure on the car audio scene in New Zealand, and even made a world record attempt in 2000 by kitting out his Nissan Patrol jeep with top of the line audio equipment.
Lomu reached 163 decibels with his car back then, something which set the record in the country, even if he didn't quite achieve his goal of being the loudest in the world.

However, he did become so synonymous with the scene in the end that he even had his own range of speakers with Fusion, which are loud and powerful enough to cause cars to shake.
In honour of Lomu and to mark his passing, a number of car audio enthusiasts held a 'sound off' in South Auckland on Sunday for the man who was the loudest of them all.
Speaking to Stuff.co.nz, president of Team Gone Deaf New Zealand Antony Latu said that "he was a big inspiration. He was one of us, a basshead, that's what we call ourselves. That's why I wanted to pay tribute to him".
