Celtic have donated £10K towards a Fernando Ricksen tribute match.

The Dutchman played for Glasgow rivals Rangers between 2000 and 2006, but has been battling Motor Neurone Disease since 2013.

A charity match has been organised for January 25th and the Hoops have donated £10K towards the fixture at Rangers' home ground of Ibrox.

"At Celtic, unfortunately we are all too familiar with MND and its devastating effects. Jimmy Johnstone, the man voted Celtic’s greatest ever player, fought bravely against this illness as did former player John Cushley, someone who gave so many years’ service to the club," said Celtic's Celtic Chief Executive Peter Lawwell.

"We would like also to take this opportunity to send our thoughts and best wishes to Fernando and his family.”
