Barcelona and Real Madrid avoided each other in the semi final draw leaving a possible date at Wembley in the final on the cards.

This though is far from a guarantee as German giants Bayern Munich and Borrusia Dortmund stand in the way of both Barcelona and Real Madrid respectively.

In fact, Borussia Dortmund managed to pick up four points off Madrid in the group stages, beating them at home and getting a well earned point at the Bernabeu.

In the first game at the Westfalenstadion, Robert Lewandowski opened the scoring before Cristiano Ronaldo latched onto a long pass to make it two. But Dortmund would not be denied as left-back Marcel Schmelzer smashed home.

Two weeks later the Germans then earned a 2 - 2 draw in the Bernabeu - a result that proved crucial as Jurgen Klopp's men topped the Group of Death.

Bayern Munich, who will be looking to avenge their final defeat from last year, face Barcelona after cruising past Juventus 4-0 on aggregate in the quarter finals.

This will be the first time the two sides will meet in the competition since 2009 when Barcelona comfortably beat Bayern 5-1 on aggregate.

Lionel Messi was the hero of the first leg scoring a brace in a 4 - o victory which also saw Thierry Henry and Samuel Eto'o find the net.

The Catalans finished the job at the Allianz Arena with a 1 - 1 draw.

It was Pep Guardiola's first season in charge and ended with their much-celebrated Champions League victory over Manchester United in Rome - the start of an era of dominance.
