Life under Jose Mourinho has started with a routine win and minimum fuss for Chelsea. Two first half goals – from Oscar and Frank Lampard – were more than enough to deal with a Hull City side that, at times, appeared dangerously out of their depth.
Allan McGregor took Fernando Torres down in the box after just 6 minutes to give the home side a penalty but the keeper redeemed himself as he saved the ensuing kick from Frank Lampard.
It wasn’t long however before Chelsea opened the scoring, as Kevin De Bruyne slipped the ball into the path of Oscar and the Brazilian opened the scoring in the 12th minute.
Frank Lampard made amends from his earlier spot kick miss in the 24th minute with a looping free kick that made it 2-0.
