Ciaran Kilkenny is still only 20 but already he’s had to make big decisions in the public eye , decisions which would be judged on their success or failure by the sports public.

The Castleknock clubmans biggest call was returning from Australia where a promising career in Aussie Rules awaited, the next was choosing hurling or football a decision made knowing that whomever he picked someone was going to be left disappointed.

This morning a t the Dublin team hotel he spoke to me about that decision and yesterday’s game in which he chipped in with a  point.
