A Colombian footballer has died after he was shot in the head.

Ferley Reyes (23) of Union Magdalena was shot by an assailant on a motorcycle while at a hairdressers in the city of Santa Marta..

The shooting also saw Reyes' team-mate Luis Diaz Asprilla shot three times.

He is receiving treatment in hospital.

Police have yet to identify the shooter and the motive for the attack remains a mystery.

In 1994, Colombia international Andres Escobar was shot dead a week after scoring an own goal in a World Cup match.
