As sporting careers go, Barry Davies' is certainly up there amongst the best.

Universally adored by fans and pundits alike, the British commentator joined Joe Molloy and the rest of the Off the Ball crew earlier to look back on a glittering career. 

In a career that began all the way back in 1963, he has provided national coverage of ten World Cups, seven European Championships, 12 Summer Olympic games and he was also the 'Voice of the Boat Race' between 1993 and 2004. 

The voice of countless iconic sporting moments, including the now immortal words of 'Look at his face, just look at his face,' in response to Francis Lee's winner against Manchester City in 1974. 

While he also covered Arsenal v Tottenham Hotspur in the FA Cup semi-final in 1991, where Paul Gascoigne scored a stunning free kick. 

Davies spoke at length about his incredible career, and also about his commentating rivalry with the BBC's John Motson. 

"There was a considerable difference in our styles, which was very good for the programme, and Motty and I have agreed many times it was good for us. 

"But the balance at major games was very strongly in his favour, one has to accept the fact that people make decisions.

"I don't think it threatened my confidence. It may have increased my irritation at times but there was no point in me trying to do it in the way he was doing it."
