Connacht have been beaten 64-6 by Saracens, conceding 11 tries in the process. The result sends Saracens into the last eight while ending Connacht’s European season.
Connacht remained in touch throughout the early exchanges of the first half but when they went down to 14 men – as a result of Nathan White’s yellow card – their resistance wavered. A Brits try late in the first half meant Connacht trailed 18-6 at the break and from that point Saracens never relented.
Tries from David Strettle (3), Chris Ashton (2), Chris Wyles, Alex Goode, Jackson Wray, Schalk Brits , George Kruis and Neil De Kock more than made up for some wayward kicking from Charlie Hodgson – who sent 8 wide of the posts.
Alex Goode in particular showed some excellent individual skill, scoring one try and running from his own 22 to create another, in a second half that offered light work to Saracnes, even as they made a number of change.
