Cork advanced to the final of the Munster senior football championship with a comprehensive win over Clare in Pairc Uí Rinn.

Both sides exchanged scores in the opening minutes but after 10 minutes Cork began to pull away and Clare could find no way to stop them.

Cork rushed into a 0-10 to 0-04 lead at half time and Clare would need to improve greatly to try a stop a Cork side really beginning to hit its stride.

Cork continued where they left off early in the second half opening an eleven point lead. Clare had hope of a revival when Cathal O’ Connor netted but it did not deter Cork as they continued to push on.

Cork had soon regained a 10 point lead and a Donncha O’ Connor penalty put the game beyond any doubt giving Cork a 13 point lead.

Cork and Clare exchanged scores in the final minutes but the Rebel county advance tot he final with a deserved 1-20 to 1-08 victory.

As ever Cork were relentless and pushed on further three points giving the rebel county a 1-21 to 1-05 win
