Lizzie Lee put in a fantastic performance to finish strongly at the Berlin Marathon, claiming her place at the Rio Olympics next year as a result.
Her time of 2:32:51 (which works out at about 5:50 per mile for the grueling duration of the marathon) means that she finishes well inside the qualifying berth, which is 2:42.
Lizzie's time is the fifth fastest ever recorded by an Irishwoman, and saw her cross the line inside the top 20 at the prestigious event in Germany.

As highlighted by Running in Cork, there's a chance that there could be faster times recorded, thus pushing Lizzie outside the three spots that Ireland have available to send to Rio for the marathon, but given how comfortably she is inside the qualifying mark, it's now more or less certain that she'll be on the plane to Brazil.
