Coronation street stars are rallying round cobbles legend Liz Dawn who has suffered a heart attack.

The 73-year-old, who was known to millions as Vera Duckworth, was taken to hospital last night after suffering chest pains.

In 2004, she was diagnosed with incurable emphysema.

Ex-Corrie actress Sally Lindsay has told her pal to 'stick in there, girl - you're as tough as nails.'

Her on-screen husband Bill Tarmey (who played Vera's spouse Jack) passed away in November aged 71.
