Leinster have received a welcome boost with the news that Leo Cullen has signed on for another year, putting off the end of his playing career until at least the culmination of the 2013/14 season.
Cullen agreeing to stay on with the province will be a major boost for Joe Schmidt’s diminished squad, which has already received the news it will soon lose Isa Naceywa and Jonny Sexton, while Brian O’Driscoll’s continued presence seems less than guaranteed.
Cullen holds the record as the most decorated Heineken Cup captain, with three winner’s medals as skipper to his name.
The contract news comes just one day after Luke Fitzgerald ended speculation linking with Munster by signing a new two year extension with Leinster.
