A Bahrain-based sports management company said on Tuesday it has ended its association with Daniel Kinahan.

KHK, the company set up by the King of Bahrain's son, said in a statement it has "discontinued its engagement with Daniel Kinahan and he is no longer an advisor" to the company.

The statement was confirmed by the government information service in Bahrain.

Kinahan was credited by Tyson Fury in a social media video with playing a key role in brokering the two-fight deal between Fury and Anthony Joshua which is set to be the biggest fight in British boxing history.

Taoiseach Leo Varadkar has already urged Irish viewers and media to ignore the bouts due to Kinahan's involvement.

Varadkar said that the Department of Foreign Affairs would be in contact with the United Arab Emirates authorities regarding Kinahan's role in proceedings.

However, addressing the Dail on Friday, Varadkar conceded there is little the Irish government can do to stop the fight going ahead.

Varadkar told the Dail that the UAE, "know our concerns and our problems with it".

Journalist Kieran Cunningham spoke to Off The Ball recently about Kinahan's role in setting up the fight and how he is looking to be a global power broker in the sport. "It is very, very damaging for boxing and it makes us question where boxing is going," said The Irish Star journalist.

Kinahan has never been convicted of a crime in Ireland.
