Clare manager Davy Fitzgerald says his young side showed “savage heart” yesterday as they came from behind to beat Cork in the division 1A relegation final yesterday, while also feeling the performance showed positive signs for the future of his side.

“This is a building process. We’re not going to win All-Ireland’s out of today but today showed savage heart."

Fitzgerald felt his side answered their critics with yesterday’s win as they scored 31 points to better Cork’s haul of 2-23 in a thrilling contest at Gaelic Grounds, Limerick.

“We kind of said inside things might go against us but listen hang tough and we’ll get there in the end, and we did that.

“A lot of people had us put down today, but it’s nice when you show up that.”

The result means Banner stay up while the Rebels are relegated.

Davy Fitzgerald was talking with Syl O'Connor of Clare FM, following yesterday’s win and you can listen to the entire audio via the player below.
