Dermot Earley has been elected as the new President of the GPA.

The former Kildare footballer replaces Offaly's Brian Whelahan, who is standing down from the role after six years.

The election has been held ahead of tonight's GAA/GPA All-Star awards.

The football All Stars will be announced tonight, after the hurlers were revealed yesterday.

The Player and Young Player of the year awards will also be announced at tonight's ceremony at Croke Park.
