On the eve of the 2013 Six Nations, Ian Madigan was fourth-choice No 10 for Ireland behind Jonny Sexton Ronan O'Gara, Paddy Jackson and Sexton's deputy at Leinster.
But two months on, Madigan seems to have put himself in contention for a potential call to Lions duty for this summer's tour to Australia.
He wouldn't be the first uncapped player to receive a Lions' nod with England's Will Greenwood achieving that feat in 1997 - beign selected ahead of his country's own captain.
Madigan's provincial coach Joe Schmidt has not hidden his admiration for the 24-year-old due to his outstanding performances in recent weeks.
Madigan's place kicking has been excellent with a rate of 83 per cent (or 35 from 42), ahead of Sexton and O'Gara in the RaboDirect Pro 12.
However he is still likely to give way to the returning Sexton for this weekend's clash with Munster, even though he scored all 40 of Leinster's points in their last two matches against Ulster and Glasgow, flawlessly kicking 11 from 11.
But does he deserve a call up to the Lions' Tour?
