Dundalk and Limerick served up the game of the night on Friday – a 5-3 thriller in Oriel Park - while Leinster Senior League side Bluebell were the name on everyone’s lips as they left The Brandywell with a 0-0 draw against League of Ireland Premier Division side Derry City.

Bluebell have to return to Derry on Tuesday night, having given up their home advantage for last night’s game.

Dundalk led Limerick 4-1 after an hour of football at Oriel Park last night, and despite two goals in the final half hour the Munster side were unable to pull off the great escape.

St. Patrick’s Athletic – still chasing that elusive FAI Cup win after more than half a century without the taste of glory in the competition – eased into the final 8 with a comfortable 3-0 win over Bray Wanderers at the Carlisle Grounds.

Greg Bolger opened the scoring for The Saints on 18 minutes, with Conan Byrne and Killian Brennan adding goals in the second half.

Shelbourne did what was required, beating College Corinthians 1-0 at Tolka Park. A fifth minute goal from Dean Kelly proved to be enough for the Dublin side.

The Munster Senior League side battled bravely against their Premier Division opposition and made Shels look uncomfortable on more than one occasion, but ultimately the minnows went home empty handed.

Junior Cup champions Sheriff YC went out of the competition after a 3-1 defeat to Shamrock Rovers, in Tallagh Stadium.

Cobh and Finn Harps will do it all again after a stoppage time equalizer from John Meade brought the Cork side back from the brink and tied the game at 1-1.

Cork City travel to The Showgrounds tonight to face Sligo Rovers, while Longford Town host Drogheda United.
