Frank Lampard was keeping his cards close to his chest regarding his own future after his Derby County side were beaten 2-1 by Aston Villa in the English Championship play-off final at Wembley on Monday afternoon.
Derby substitute Jack Marriott gave hope to Rams fans when he scored in the 82nd minute but Villa held onto their lead to seal the victory and their rise to the Premier League thanks to goals from John McGinn and Anwar El Ghazi.
Lampard will sit down for talks with the club's owner Mel Morris in "the next few days" before deciding what steps he will take next with the club destined for another season in English football's second tier.
"No I'm not interested in the speculation, it's not more likely," Lampard replied when asked on Sky Sports after the defeat if it was more likely now that he could take the Chelsea managerial position, were Maurizio Sarri to leave in the summer.
Frank Lampard's old club Chelsea may need a new boss
In recent weeks, Sarri has cast doubt over his own future at the club where Lampard is regarded as a legend.
The Italian has admitted that he is not sure whether the Blues top brass want to retain his services and won't speak to them until after the Europa League final against Arsenal on Wednesday night.
Lampard confirmed that he will be speaking with the man in charge of his own club this week.
"What is likely is that I'll sit down with Mel Morris, the owner, over the next few days when the dust settles because he's been brilliant and as I said the other day, the fans have been brilliant and then we will see where it goes.
"I've got a two-year contract and I love working at this place. I love working here. The fans there at the end giving the players an ovation. The players in the dressing room, so, yeah we'll see."
