A 2 - 1 away win for Fulham ended a run of poor results for Martin Jol's men and dented West Brom's European ambitions.
Dimitar Berbatov scored the first goal of the New Year to give Fulham a 1-0 lead six minutes before half time.
The Bulgarian talisman calmly sidefooted in a low cross from Ashkan Dejagah.
However Romelu Lukaku equalised for West Brom three minutes into the second half after good footwork from Billy Jones.
And the Baggies were inches from going in front, hitting the woodwork twice in the space of three minutes.
First Lukaku was unfortunate to strike the post after brushing Aaron Hughes aside. And on their next foray forward Zoltan Gera struck the post after David Stockdale saved a Lukaku shot, before Chris Brunt had a fierce strike cleared off the line by Hughes.
But Alex Kakanicklic put Fulham back in front just before the hour mark after latching on to a superb long pass from Brian Ruiz and calmly sliding the ball past the onrushing Ben Foster.
The Cottagers first win in six, lifts them up to 12th, while the Baggies stay seventh.
