Galway and Dublin are to play each other in a game of Super 11's Hurling at Fenway Park, the home of the Boston Red Sox. The announcement was made today in Croke Park, with the game scheduled to take place on November 22nd.

This game will be the first hurling tie in Fenway Park since 1954 and the first game of Super 11's Hurling between two intercounty sides to take place in America. Just under two years ago, teams from Munster and Leinster faced off on the campus of Notre Dame College in the same weekend Notre Dame faced USC in a football match. 24 hours earlier, Boston College will face Notre Dame in a College Football game in the same stadium.

Although primarily a baseball stadium, Fenway Park has hosted other sports in recent years. Liverpool have played Roma in two pre season games at the ground in recent years while the NHL Winter Classic took place at the ground in 2010.
